Swallow Tail Kite, Photographed 13 June 2006, Samsula, Florida

Photographed by Maggie DeVane with the following note:

Attached is a nice photo of a fledgling Swallow-Tail Kite that was brought in to the Bird Rescue Center of New Smyrna Beach, FL this past weekend. The bird was abandoned and unable to perch on a fence in Samsula; no adult birds were nearby.

After feeding and hydrating, the bird was transported to the Audubon Birds of Prey Center in Maitland for checkup and release.

Since we'd never seen one on the ground before (only high up in the sky!) we thought other members would like to see this beautiful bird!

Sincerely,

Maggie DeVane
