The Florida Ornithological Society Records Committee (FOSRC) was established in the fall of 1981. The main functions of the FOSRC are to evaluate reports of birds recorded in the wild in Florida, and update the scientific record of Florida’s avifauna. The FOSRC critically reviews all written sight reports, specimens, photographic and video records, audio recordings, etc. submitted to determine the validity of the reports. Material provided to the FOSRC for review is archived to be accessible to future researchers. The committee publishes its decisions periodically in the Florida Field Naturalist. The rules and procedures used by the FOSRC and other pertinent information are provided in the links below.
